“There is a need for us to converge our efforts as we are operating in one security environment and utilizing our various resources towards the accomplishment of a common goal,” said Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of Western Mindanao Command, to ground commanders during his visit to military troops in Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur on October 8.
The WestMinCom commander commended military units with their successive gains in several operations launched against lawless and terrorist groups in their area.
“We are now on the fourth quarter, and, based on records, you have contributed a lot towards the accomplishments of the mission of the WestMinCom to bring about long and lasting peace and progress in the whole regions that we cover,” he said.
Lt. Gen.Sobejana urged the troops to align their operational objectives with the whole of nation approach under Executive Order No. 70.
“The security landscape has evolved. We have to engage and organize the different sectors in our area of responsibility,” he added.
He also urged ground commanders to grasp the “dynamics of peace and conflict in their area of operations.”
“Based on those dynamics, you can come up with a very responsive security template,” he added.
Ground commanders under the different Joint Task Forces of WestMinCom joined the meeting presided over by Lt. Gen. Sobejana at the headquarters of the 1st Infantry Division, Philippine Army at around 2:30pm on Tuesday.
