CABADBARAN CITY, July 31- The 29th Infantry “Matatag” Battalion under the leadership of Lt.Col. Isagani O. Criste acknowledged and congratulated the 80 newly promoted Enlisted Personnel (EP) during their Monday flag raising ceremony at Headquarters 29IB, Brgy Del Pilar, Cabadbaran City on July 29, 2019.
A total of 80 army enlisted personnel of 29IB were promoted to the next higher rank. One was promoted to Master Sergeant, six to Technical Sergeant, nine to Staff Sergeant, 29 to Sergeant and 35 to Corporal.
Lt. Col. Isagani O. Criste emphasized on his speech one of the important principle of leadership which is looking out for the welfare of the troops. A principle which is often forgotten or even taken for granted by many of the commanders or leaders. “I am not selfish in giving out awards, commendations or even promotions for my troops, so as long as they do their part to deserve it,” said Criste.
Criste also quoted the words of Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben in the movie Spiderman, “With great power comes great responsibility. The added line in your rank signifies not only an added salary, but also entails a bigger challenge and responsibility towards your subordinates and even a much greater accountability towards your seniors and commanders.”
