Caravan brings services to remote Ifugao village

From the Philippine Information Agency (Aug 2, 2019): Caravan brings services to remote Ifugao village

Danggo is one of the remotest barangays of Tinoc in Ifugao. It is more than an hour ride from Poblacion Tinoc through rugged terrain and about 15 minutes ride by chopper from Bagabag Airport in Nueva Vizcaya. Its inaccessibility hinders the delivery of services to the people.

Last July 26, residents of remote Danggo and Luhong, another far flung village, including from nearby barangays of Nueva Vizcaya and Benguet welcomed government workers for an all-in-one caravan at the Danggo Elementary School.

Spearheaded by the 54th Infantry (Magilas) Battalion, 5th Infantry (Star) Division based in Kiangan town through its Community Support Program, in partnership with other government and non-government organizations, the one day activity served hundreds of residents from these geographically isolated and distressed areas.

They were provided with medical and dental services, free haircut, school supplies to pupils and secondhand clothes and hygiene kits to parents. Vegetable seedlings were also distributed. Assorted seedlings of fruit and non-fruit bearing trees and reading materials were also turned-over by the 54th IB to barangay officials and teachers of the host barangay.

Participating agencies like the Philippine Information Agency; 54th IB; Department of Interior and Local Government Unit; Technical Education and Skills Development, Tinoc Municipal Station, Department of Health, Department of Agriculture and a private organization also shared their respective programs and services to the people.

The all-in-one caravan was culminated in the evening with a video presentation of some of the Army’s best practices and activities and other related movies.

Lt. Colonel Narciso Nabulneg, Jr., 5th IB Commanding Officer, said that delivering basic services to the remote areas is part of the genuine services performed by the different agencies through the Whole-of-Nation Approach.

“You (partner stakeholders) impressively delivered your fortes that our constituents could not hide their grateful emotions through their smiles upon receiving their gifts and various services delivered during the activity. We once again proved that we can do enormous things when we’re united and work as one,” he said. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao).
