DEL PILAR Cabadbaran City July 31– After months of continuous training, another batch of 157 students completed the Mobile Computer Literacy (MCL) Training in Santiago, Agusan del Norte on July 29, 2019.
The students who completed the said training were composed of 68 Indigenous People (IP) and 89 out of school youth, where 37 were males and 120 were females.
Hon. Franklin D.Lim, Municipal Mayor of Santiago, who was represented by Hon. Brendo P. Acierto, Sangguniang Bayan Member graced the commencement program of the MCL Training.
Mr. Arnaldo CabaƱas, focal person of TESDA in the province said: “It is almost required for everyone to be able to learn because having the necessary and basic computer course knowledge will put you ahead of others and will change your future.”
Col. Maurito L. Licudine, Commander of the 402nd Brigade expressed his gratitude in his statement, “ I am thankful to the LGU of Santiago headed by Mayor Franklin D.Lim for his support in this program and for giving importance to the youth especially to the IP’s who cannot avail this kind of training. This is a way of giving them the opportunity and easy access to basic computer education.”
Lt. Col. Isagani O. Criste, Commanding Officer Of 29IB boldly expressed in his statement,” You are lucky enough to receive such opportunity to learn even the basics. Don’t take it for granted. Remember, If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you, but if you are determined to learn, no one can stop you.”
The MCL training program was initiated by the Philippine Army. Dubbed as Project “GAKAL” (Gabay Aral para sa Kabataang Lumad), this was formed in partnership with TESDA of Agusan del Norte, the Local Government Unit and other stakeholders purposely to deliver access to computer education to marginalized sectors especially the indigenous people and out of school youth in conflict-affected areas.
The closing of this program also marks the opening of another class of MCL training which is composed of 60 IP’s and 60 out of school youth beneficiaries. This will commence this August 5, 2019, in Brgy. Poblacion, Santiago.
