From the Philippine Information Agency (Aug 22, 2019): Another Iloilo town declares NPA as 'persona non grata'
ILOILO CITY -- After the municipality of Maasin declared the New People’s Army (NPA) as “persona non grata,” another local government unit followed suit.
Through Resolution No. 01, Series of 2019 of their Municipal Peace and Order Council, the municipality of Janiuay has condemned the terroristic acts relentlessly committed by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) and other terrorist groups.
The resolution, which was signed by Janiuay Mayor Bienvenido Margarico, stated that the municipality is gaining socio-economic advancement but has been affected by the series of atrocities conducted by the Communist NPA terrorist.
The Janiuay MPOC supports the unified condemnation of the CPP-NPA terrorists who are responsible for the series of atrocities in the municipality, victimizing not only the security forces but also government and private properties and most of all the defenseless civilians.
In a media release, Capt. Dadje Delima, Janiuay Municipal Police Station chief, said that businessmen and even ordinary people living in distant villages were unsafe of the extortion activities of the rebels.
Delima said members of the CPP-NPA are reportedly conducting house-to-house extortion and asking people for food.
Meanwhile, the enactment of the resolution shall ensure comprehensive orchestration of peace efforts and initiatives and development in the multi-sector campaign against insurgency. (JBG/LTP/PIA-Iloilo)
