From the Manila Bulletin (Jun 23): 2 BIFF collared at a checkpoint in Maguindanao

The Armed Forces of the Philippines-Western Mindanao Command (AFP-WestMinCom) said that two members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) were arrested by government soldiers in a checkpoint in Maguindanao on Wednesday morning.

The two BIFF members were identified as Jahren Mantukay, 23, and Bardurin Limba, 28.

The two were held by members of the 22nd Mechanized Company, 2nd Mechanized Battalion, Mechanized Division, Philippine Army at a checkpoint in Butilin, Datu Salibo, Maguindanao at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Seized from Mantukay and Limba, both residents of Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Maguindanao, were two sachets of suspected shabu.

The two are reportedly members of the BIFF’s Special Operation Group under a certain Palos and were often seen operating the motorized boat utilized by the BIFF.

They were brought to Datu Piang Police Station for investigation.

Major General Arnel Dela Vega, commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said that coordination was made with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the ceasefire committee as part of the area of engagement is occupied by the 105th Base Command of the MILF.
