From Malaya (Oct 26): PAF gets a new No. 2 and a No. 3 to boot
MAJ. Gen. Raul Dimatatac is now the No. 2 man of Air Force. A well-rounded pilot and commander, Dimatatac yesterday assumed the post of vice commander of the 20,000-strong Air Force, taking over from Maj. Gen. Renato Lorenzo Sanchez who is reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56 today.
Dimatatac is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1981. Prior to his new post, Dimatatac was the Chief of Air Staff – the No. 3 post in the Air Force. Before that, he was commander of the 560th Air Base Wing in Benito Ebuen Air Base in Mactan, Cebu. Dimatatac is reportedly among those qualified to replace Air Force chief Lt. Gen. Lauro Catalino dela Cruz who is reportedly among candidates for AFP chief.... The new Chief of Air Staff (No. 3 post in the Air Force) is Brig. Gen. Wilfredo Ona (PMA `82) who assumed the post also yesterday in rites at the Air Force headquarters in Villamor Air Base. Ona was deputy commander of the 3rd Air Division. Ona previously commanded the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing and the 410th Maintenance Wing.
