The George Washington Carrier Strike Group (GWCSG) headed by its Commander Rear Admiral John R Haley arrived at Manila last October 24, 2012 for a 5 day Goodwill Visit.... The US vessels were met by Philippine Navy (PN) Vessels BRP Mariano Alvarez (PS38) and BRP Bienvenido Salting (PG112) during a Meeting Procedure in the vicinity of Corregidor Island and escorted them to the designated anchorage area in Manila Bay and Pier 15. A Meeting Procedure is a traditional Navy event observed internationally where the host’s ships meet with the visiting ships and escorts them to their port of call....
