From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 26): GPH panel to CPP/NPA/NDF: Listen to the
people’s cry for peace
“Listen to the cries of our people for peace!”
This was the strong appeal issued on Friday by the Government of the
Philippines (GPH) peace panel headed by Alex Padilla in the wake of the call by
the Communist Party of the Philippines/New People’s Army/National Democratic
Front (CPP/NPA/NDF) to intensify the armed struggle that has dragged for over 40
years.
“It is unfortunate that the CPP has called for the intensification of
violence (in today's Business Mirror citing the CPP's official website). Such a
call, no matter what the provocation or reason for it was, only succeeds to make
us question the real intent of the CPP/NPA/NDF,” the government peace panel said
in a press statement issued through the Office of the Presidential Adviser on
the Peace Process (OPAPP)....
“The GPH panel renews its call for the CPP-NPA-NDF to listen to the cries of
our people for peace,” the peace panel said, adding that “we continue our call
for our counterparts to show true sincerity in their professions of peace and
concern for the people by lowering the level of violence as a prelude to
peace....”
