The Philippine Army reported yesterday the apprehension of a Yunit Militia member of the New People’s Army, in Sitio Cunalom, Brgby. Carabalan, Himamaylan City, by virtue of an arrest warrant for the crime of homicide.

The arrested suspect was identified by the 94th Infantry Battalion in a statement it issued, as Romeo Balsemo.

It further disclosed that Balsemo was involved in a previous encounter that took place in Sitio Camuag, Brgy. Carabalan, Himamaylan City, on April 19, 2020.

The apprehension of Balsemo was made through collaborative efforts of the Philippine Army tracking team and troopers of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6, according to Lt. Col. Van Donald Almonte, 94IB commander.

“The arrest serves as a reminder that perpetrators of the heinous crimes will be held accountable for their action, no matter how much time has passed,” Almonte said.
