CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – One former member and 10 sympathizers of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) in Nueva Ecija have cut ties with the terrorist group to support the continuing peace and development efforts of the government.
In his report on Wednesday, Col. Richard Caballero, Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office chief, said a certain Ka Bruno, 52, of Purok 7, Barangay Cambitala, Pantabangan town and former member of Militia ng Bayan, surrendered to a police and military troops on Tuesday.
Caballero said 10 CPP-NPA supporters, who are members of the Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid, an underground mass organization of Alyansang Magbubukid sa Gitnang Luzon (AMGL) under the Kilusan ng Magsasaka ng Pilipinas (KMP), withdrew their support from the communist terrorist group on the same day.
He said government forces facilitated the special intelligence operation that resulted in the withdrawal of support in Barangay Manacsac, Guimba.
"They are now undergoing assessment documentation to avail of the government's assistance program for returnees, the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP)," Caballero said in a statement.
He said the government's relentless anti-insurgency campaign resulted in the surrender and withdrawal of support from the terrorist group and pledge of allegiance to the national government.
Caballero said it was the product of the continuous efforts of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC).
“Insurgency had been a problem for development in some parts of Nueva Ecija province due to issues of armed conflict. We will never get tired of offering the benefits from the government for these CPP-NPA supporters who returned to the fold of the law,” he added.
