Philippine Army pushes youth empowerment in a three-day Barangay Youth Leadership summit in Barangay Poblacion, Cagayan
Read: https://tinyurl.com/4uj3njxtCAMP MELCHOR F DELA CRUZ, Upi, Gamu, Isabela- A new batch of Youth for Peace concluded the three-day Barangay Youth Leadership Summit (BYLS) spearheaded by the Youth for Peace-Baggao Chapter on July 21-23, 2023 in Barangay Poblacion, Baggao, Cagayan.
39 youths actively participated in the different physical, mental, and spiritual activities which tested their capabilities. The activities were designed to promote a positive and healthy self-image, critical thinking, love of country, social responsibility, and volunteerism.
Justin, one of the participants said that the BYLS is an effective way of honing them to become a productive ‘pag-asa ng bayan’ who can contribute to the attainment of peace and progress especially in their community. “Marami akong natutunan sa tatlong araw na youth leadership summit. Mas namulat ako sa mga nangyayari sa aking kapaligiran lalo na sa sektor naming mga kabataan tungkol sa ginagawang rekrutment ng NPA. Upang makatulong sa ating pamahalaan at tinaguriang pag-asa ng bayan, makikiisa ako sa pagsugpo ng insurhensiya sa pamamagitan ng pagiging aktibong kabataan sa tamang pamamaraan.”
Moreover, troops of the 77th Infantry Battalion and 5th Civil Military Operations Battalion-Bravo Company assisted in the conduct of the BYLS together with the PNP Baggao, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, Cagayan Police Provincial Office, Baggao National High School, Local Government Unit of Baggao, and Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Poblacion.
LtC Omar C Hagada, Battalion Commander of 77IB commended the members of YFP-Baggao in their initiative to conduct a BYLS. “The youth sector plays a vital role in the society. It is our shared responsibility to mold them as well-disciplined and law-abiding citizens. Through activities such as YLS, we can develop and hone their capabilities for them to get ready for their future.”
Meanwhile, YFP Baggao is set to conduct a Municipal YLS on July 28-30, 2023.
