CAMP MELCHOR F DELA CRUZ, Upi, Gamu, Isabela- Sentrong Alyansa ng mga Mamamayan para sa Bayan (SAMBAYANAN)-Cagayan Chapter – an organization of former rebels initiated an indignation rally against the Communist Terrorist Group in Gattaran, Cagayan earlier today, March 29, 2023.
“Tapos na ang karahasan ng teroristang New People’s Army dito sa Cagayan! Hindi na kailanman mamumugad pa ang inyong (NPA) kasakiman! Gising na gising na ang mga Cagayano sa inyong panlilinlang!” Mauricio Aguinaldo, SAMBAYANAN member said in an interview of the Division Public Affairs Office of 5th Infantry Division.
Approximately 500 individuals from the government agencies, local government unit, religious group, youth sector, army, and police troops joined and supported the activity with the theme: TALNA ken KAPYA: TALikuran NA ang karahasan; KAPayapaan ay YAkapin!
The former rebels burned the flag of the terrorist Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front as a symbol of their allegiance to the government while other participants took an oath of allegiance to the government and signed the pledge of commitment in supporting the campaign against insurgency.
“Ilang buhay pa ba ang kailangang mawala? Gaanong karaming dugo pa ang dapat dumanak? Sa mga natitirang miyembro ng NPA, buksan ninyo ang inyong mga mata, walang nangyayari sa inyong ipinaglalaban. Wala pa rin kayong nararanasang ginhawa dahil wala kayong ibang narating kundi bundok,” Aguinaldo said urging the remnants of the Communist Terrorist Group to return to the folds of the law.
Meanwhile, it is worthy to note that the Provincial Government of Cagayan declared the terrorist CPP-NPA-NDF as persona non grata through a resolution. The resolution stated that the CPP-NPA-NDF is not welcome in Cagayan because of its atrocities, violations of international humanitarian law, and other terroristic acts that affected the way of living of the Cagayanos.
