CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental – The 58th Infantry “Dimalulupig” Battalion, in collaboration with the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay (R-PSB) of the PNP, sectoral groups, and the IP communities, denounces the New People’s Army (NPA) for its 54 years of lies and deceit. The NPA was declared Persona Non Grata in the province of eastern Misamis Oriental on March 29, 2023.

The NPA has been known for their deceptive recruitment of the youth, using lies and false promises to lure them into joining the Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs). They have also been responsible for the destruction of construction equipment, the harassment of patrol bases, police detachments, and macroeconomic business establishments, as well as the commission of different crimes and acts of terrorism. People and businesses in the province are terrified as a consequence of these atrocities.

A series of indignation rallies was conducted in different areas within the unit’s area of operation. These areas include Impakibel, Brgy. Aposkahoy, Claveria, Brgy. Ili Ilihon, Salay, Brgy. Kabulawan, Lagonglong, and Brgy. Mimbuli, Salay, all of Misamis Oriental. Said activities included the testimonies and success stories of former rebels (FRs), namely Edmund Rondan Acosta and Julio Compas, who returned to the folds of the law; the declaration of persona non grata; and the burning of the CPP-NPA-NDF flag.

Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Christian C. Uy, Battalion Commander of the 58IB, stated, “we are committed to bringing peace and development to our area of operation. We stand with our partners in the government and the community in our fight against the CPP-NPA-NDF’s deceptive tactics and acts of terror. We ask for your continued support and cooperation as we work together to make our communities safer and prosperous.” He further said that; together with our partners in the government and the community, vows to continue the fight against Communism and bring peace and development to the people of Misamis Oriental.

The collaborative efforts between the AFP, the PNP, sectoral groups, and the IP communities show a united stance against the CPP-NPA-NDF. It sends a strong message that their deceptive tactics, acts of terror, and other atrocities are not welcome in the province of Misamis Oriental.
