From Kalinaw News (Nov 21, 2022): Soldiers clash with CPP-NPA Terrorists in Northern Samar

CAMP SUMOROY, CATARMAN, Northern Samar – Government troops under 803rd Brigade while conducting Focused Military Operation in the vicinity of KM9, Brgy Happy Valley, San Isidro, Northern Samar encountered a group of NPA Terrorists at around 12:30 p.m. 18 November 2022. The firefight lasted for 15 minutes that resulted to the death of two (2) NPA terrorist members, apprehension of three (3) alleged terrorist members, and the recovery of several war material which include assorted live ammunition and subversive documents.

The government troops acted on the report of the civilian populace in KM9, Brgy Happy Valley about an armed group conducting extortion and terrorizing the people at said place when the incident happened. While patrolling to locate the whereabouts of the reported CTGs, the troops were fired upon by unidentified number of NPA terrorists. It is believed that this CTGs are the merged group of Front Committee 2 and Sub-Regional Guerilla Unit of Sub-Regional Committee “Emporium” of the Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee who are frequently monitored extorting money and food supplies from the people in the area.

Meanwhile, Col Peñaredondo, 803rd Brigade Commander, called upon the CTG’s leadership in the area to turn-over their wounded comrades for immediate medical treatment. He also expressed his gratitude to populace of KM9, Brgy Happy Valley for volunteering information that led to the encounter with the terrorist group. Col Peñaredondo also encourages the remaining members of the CPP-NPA Terrorists to lay down their arms go back to their families and start a new productive life through availment of Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) and the Northern Samar Local Social Integration Program (LSIP).
