A ranking leader of the communist New People's Army (NPA) facing criminal charges was arrested by operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) at La Filipina in Tagum City, Davao del Norte on Wednesday morning, July 13.LtCol. Milgrace Driz, CIDG provincial unit head, said the suspected NPA leader identified only as alias "Dodong" used to be the commanding officer of the NPA Front Committee 27, operating within Davao de Oro.
He was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest for murder issued in Davao de Oro in August 2019.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Tagum City Police Office for temporary detention.
"We will take cognizance of the criminal justice system and the rule of law where joint forces of law enforcers of the Philippine National Police will rein in criminal activities and curb lawlessness," Driz said.
