Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City – July 13, 2022

Mr. Rexall Kaalim, Deputy Head of Mission of the Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) visited the Western Mindanao Command on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.

Nonviolent Peaceforce is a nonpartisan international organization with the goal of protecting civilians and reducing violence through unarmed strategies in areas affected by and vulnerable to conflict. NP started its operations in the Philippines in March 2007 with its main office established in Cotabato City.

During his visit to the command, Mr. Kaalim was received by Col. Wendell Basat, the Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Civil-Military Operations at the Laong Laan Hall located at WestMinCom Headquarters, Camp Navarro, Calarian, this city.

According to Mr. Kaalim, NP’s role in the peace process includes building trust and confidence with different stakeholders and peace partners. “As part of our mandate, we coordinate and share our work in Mindanao with key and relevant stakeholders of the peace process”.

Col. Basat expressed his gratitude to Mr. Kaalim for taking the time to visit the command. “On behalf of WestMinCom Commander, Lt. Gen. Alfredo Rosario, Jr., I would like to express my assurance that the command will always support you in all your endeavors,” Col. Basat said.

Ms. Daphne Macatimbol, Gender Advisor; Ganie Amlain, Team Leader (ZamBaSul); Muhti Abdula, Protection Officer, and; Denise Cadorniga, Communication Officer of the Nonviolent Peaceforce accompanied Mr. Kaalim during his visit to the command.
