The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) is strengthening tactical offensive operations against the New People’s Army (NPA) following recent improvised explosive device (IED) blasts that wounded two police officers.

IPPO remains “steadfast and determined” in supporting the government’s anti-insurgency campaign, according to Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, provincial police director.

They will tap force multipliers such as barangay intelligence networks (BIN) and community-based organizations in coordination with local officials.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Guillermo Eleazar, ordered follow-up operations against the communist-terrorists behind the IED attack in Tubungan town on Oct. 24.

Police Patrolman Jessie Castamado and Corporal Genel Simpas incurred injuries while on foot patrol outside their detachment in the boundary of barangays Mayang and Jolason in Tubungan.
