Camp General Manuel T Yan Sr., Mawab, Davao de Oro – 72IB and 102MICO under 10ID encountered more or less six (6) NPA members of under alias Gamay and alias Lalay of Front Guerilla Unit (FGU) under Guerilla Front (GF) 53 of Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) at tri-boundaries of Brgys Tawas and White Kulaman of Kitaotao, Bukidnon and Brgy Kulaman Valley of Arakan, Cotabato at 9:25 o’clock in the morning of March 20, 2021.MGen Ernesto C Torres Jr, Commander 10ID, commended the troops for a job well-done. “Congratulations Team Agila for these victories, let us press on,” he said
It was a confirmed report from civilians that promted 10ID to send troops in order to counter the enemy’s possible resurgence in the boundaries of cotabato and bukidnon. Report revealed that NPA is attempting to enter the area. An encounter erupted as troops located the CTG’s location and gun battle lasted for about 15 minutes
Accordingly, during the encounter alias Lalay was seen wounded and carrying a Cal .45 pistol.
As the troops pursued fleeing terrorists, 3 CTG members were captured namely: Leonardo Ejanel alias Gamay, (Commanding Officer, FGU, GF 53, SMRC), 37 yrs old, a resident of Brgy White Kulaman, Kitaotao, Bukidnon; Ryan Desalao (alleged CTG Supporter), 20 yrs old, a resident of Brgy White Kulaman, Kitaotao, Bukidnon and; Merlyn Benano Bentang (alleged CTG Supporter), 20 yrs old, 5-months pregnant, also a resident of Brgy White Kulaman, Kitaotao, Bukidnon.
Troops also Captured of the following war materials:
One M653 rifle; Three magazines; 88-rounds of 5.56mm ammo; Two cellular phones; One unused globe sim pack; Medical paraphernalias (Vitamins, medicine, tablets, gauze bandage); Food Stuff; Two backpacks with personal belongings.
On March 21, 2021, 3:00 in the afternoon, alias Gamay revealed during interview that he and alias Joel, (former Guerilla Front Secretary, GF 53, Sub-Regional Command, 3, SMRC) left their firearms at vicinity of Upper Suyan, President Roxas, North Cotabato.
Acting on the information, troops seized the another firearms and ammunitions: One Elisco M16 Rifle; Two Colt M16 Rifle; 15- long magazine for M16; Three Bandoleers and; 268-rounds of Cal 5.56mm ammunition.
After the encounter, there were no casualties on the government side
“With people supporting us and troops motivated, CTGs can only expect their defeat. Let us continue doing good everyday in performing our mandate of protecting the people and securing the land,” MGen Torres Jr added.
