PASIG CITY, Dec. 10 (PIA) -- Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana led the annual troop visitation and Christmas gift giving to wounded AFP personnel confined at the Heroes Ward of the AFP Medical Center in Quezon City on Wednesday, Dec. 9.
The defense chief wanted to personally check how the patients were in their recovery.
Lorenzana emphasized that Christmas is the perfect season to remember the selflessness of our soldiers.
“This is the reason why I am very glad to start my activities for the Yuletide Season with all of you,” he said in his message.
“This has been part of our tradition in the Department Of National Defense under our Project Kapakanan at Gabay sa Dating Kaanyuan (KAPAGDAKA), and I am comforted by the fact that it has become non-negotiable for us despite the prevailing pandemic, knowing how important this modest gesture is to the morale of our soldiers,” he added.
Packages consisting of hygiene kits, toiletries, and food items amounting to P2,500.00 and gift checks worth P2,000.00 each were distributed to 90 soldiers at the military hospital. (PIA NCR)
