A police manhunt is underway against a group of armed men who killed in a drive-by shooting three coronavirus disease (Covid-19) front-liners in Buluan, Maguindanao on Thursday evening.
Colonel Donald Madamba, Maguindanao police director, identified the victims as Lucman Rasul, Teng Lawan, and Ilo Lawan, all residents of Barangay Poblacion in Buluan, all members of the Kabalikat Radio Communication Group under the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
The victims were seated near the road not far from a Covid-19 checkpoint in the town when a white car passed by and opened fire at them around 9 p.m., Madamba said, quoting witnesses.
He said the car sped off towards the direction of nearby Tacurong City after the incident.
“Two of the three victims died on the spot while the other one expired at a local hospital,” he said.
Madamba said all police units in the province have been alerted for the possible identification of the killers and the getaway vehicle.
“Our civilian field assets are helping us get the culprits behind the incident,” he said.
