The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in Central Visayas has announced its new weekly radio program dubbed as “Kasayuran” with DYAR Sonshine Radio Cebu that will focus on peace and development initiatives of the government.

The one-hour radio program will initially air on Sept. 23, and every Wednesday thereafter from 3:30-4:30 p.m., and will be anchored by Jimrey Biosa and co-hosted by the PIA-7.

“This is another platform to communicate significant advocacies of government such as the Covid-19 initiatives as we move towards recovery phase amidst the pandemic and the Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict or ELCAC, a long-term goal of the government to achieve long lasting peace for development to fully prosper, especially in affected areas,”
Fayette Riñen, regional director of PIA-7, said in a statement.

PIA-7 and DYAR recently inked the agreement for the latter to help in providing the channel to disseminate the government’s communication imperatives on peace and development.

DYAR Sonshine Cebu, for over five years now, has given free weekly airtime to PIA-7 in its Saturday program titled "Serbisyo Para sa Masa" where the agency facilitates the guesting of regional line agency and local government unit officials to promote their programs and services.

“We are happy to accommodate PIA, a longtime partner, as we have the same objectives which are to inform and to educate the public, especially on matters that affect their general welfare,” said Biosa, who is also the station manager of DYAR.

Secretary Martin Andanar of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) commended the partnership in a video message, saying “the program should be used as a vehicle of knowledge, for knowledge and by knowledge and underlines the fundamentals of disseminating information in tandem with the truth that must be known, especially in a world that is polluted by falseness, prejudice, and lies.”

Andanar said it is important to inform the people of what the government is doing as it tries to mitigate the continuing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic through the two important bills that have been passed -- Bayanihan 1 and Bayanihan 2.

The Bayanihan 1 and 2 itemized the measures from the emergency and response phase towards the recovery and rehabilitation phase that includes the financial recuperation of micro, small and medium enterprises, he added.

The PCOO chief said the present administration continues to address other equally important concerns such as the war on illegal drugs, criminality, and corruption as well as terrorism, but on the other hand, fast-tracks development efforts by implementing its “Build, Build, Build” program.

"Kasayuran" will be livestreamed on the official Facebook pages of PIA-7 (Central Visayas to Rise as One) and DYAR.
