CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – The Joint Task Force Central (JTFC) paid tribute to its two fallen soldiers in a send-off ceremony at 6ID Mortuary here on Thursday, May 7, 2020.
Colonel Steve D Crespillo, Assistant Division Commander for Reservist and Retirees Affairs of the 6th Infantry Division, represented JTFC Commander Maj. Gen. Diosdado C. Carreon, in paying honor and respect to the remains of the late Corporals Jermie R Ombiang and Vicente M Gata. The two brave soldiers offered their lives in protecting the people of Datu Hoffer, Maguindanao against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).
Corporal Ombiang and Corporal Gata were members of Alpha Company of 57th Infantry (MASIKAP) Battalion. While serving as frontliners against COVID-19 they were treacherously attacked by the BIFF terrorist group on May 03, 2020 in Brgy Talibadok, Datu Hoffer,Maguindanao.
The valiant soldiers were also awarded with Military Merit Medals (Posthumous) and cash assistance were provided to their bereaved families.
Maj. Gen. Carreon condemns the treacherous acts of the BIFF and vowed that the JTFC will go after the terrorists in pursuit of justice and peace.
The remains of Corporals Ombiang and Gata were transported to their respective hometowns accorded with appropriate security escorts. (DPAO_6ID)
