Camp Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City —— A high ranking official of the Communist New People’s Army Terrorists (CNTs) was arrested in a joint police and military operation in Butuan City around 12:30 this afternoon.
Brigadier General Joselito T Esquivel, Jr Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 Director, disclosed that Virgilio Torralba Lincuna, 68 years old, married, and resident of Purok 3, Barangay Banza, Butuan City was arrested by virtue of Warrant of Arrest in Unyon ng mga Mag-uuma sa Agusan del Norte (UMAN) Office, Purok-3A Barangay Tiniwisan, this city.
Virgilio Lincuna is the Secretary of Regional Urban Committee (RUC), Regional White Area Committee (RWAC), Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) at the same time Chairman of Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) that spearheaded mass actions in Butuan City.
Lincuna has three standing Warrants of Arrest, all for the crime of Attempted Murder: (a) Criminal Case Number 18-3350 dated January 31, 2019 with Php100,000.00 bail bond recommended; (b) Criminal Case Number 19-3550 with Php100,000.00 bail bond recommended; and (c) Criminal Case 19-3551 with Php100,000.00 bail bond recommended, all issued by Honorable Judge Lilibeth O Ladaga of Regional Trial Court Branch 28, Lianga, Surigao del Sur dated May 14, 2019.
After almost a month of information gathering and surveillance, the operation was conducted by the joint personnel of Butuan City Mobile Force Company,Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) Intelligence Branch, Butuan City Police Station 4 and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Regional Field Unit 13, together with 402nd Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army.
“This notable accomplishment is attributed to the good relationship between the PNP and AFP in the region that resulted in information sharing and collaborative efforts between the government forces,” said PBGEN Esquivel Jr.
“The active support of the community also plays a significant role in this success. I encourage the community to continue giving your support to our government forces who always ensure the safety and security of the Caraganons,” he added.
