WESTMINCOM: 3 high powered firearms hand-over to AFP

The Western Mindanao Command, through all of its Joint Task Forces, continuously intensifies its campaign against the proliferation of loose firearms in its area of operations.



At 9am today, 3 high-powered firearms and ammunitions including one M14 rifle with scope, one M79, one M203 Grenade Launcher, four 40mm and three 7.62mm ammunitions, and one 40mm bandolier were turned-over to the troops of the 49th Infantry Battalion in Butig, Lanao del Sur.



The ceremonial hand-over was held at the Brgy. Hall of Brgy. Sundig of said town, being facilitated by Charlie Company of the 49IB, officials of Butig municipality led by Councilor Saiben Panolong, and Barangay Sundig Chairman Abolan Macatbar.

“This activity highlights the support of the Local Government Unit of Butig town in the AFP’s campaign against loose firearms,” said Brigadier General Romeo Brawner, Jr. , commander of the 103rd Brigade.



Said HPFAs, ammunitions, and gun paraphernalia are placed under the custody of the 49IB for proper disposition.

“I personally like to express my sincerest gratitude to the local government units and the civilian community for their untiring support to the AFP’s campaigns,” said Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana, WestMinCom commander.

“With your support in all our endeavours, peace and development will soon be attained,” added Lt. Gen. Sobejana.
