CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Six were arrested in a joint military and police operation Pikit town of North Cotabato at early dawn yesterday (September 9, 2019).
The operation was conducted by Joint Task Force Central’s 7th Infantry Battalion and North Cotabato Provincial Field Unit of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-12 against the suspected criminal elements thriving in the area.
At around 2:00 a.m., the operating government troops served search warrants at Barangay Inug-ug of Pikit town and arrested 6 suspected criminals.
The suspects are tagged to be involved in gun-for-hire, car napping and extortion activities in the town and its neighboring personalities. They were identified as Toto Panares 34 yrs old, Ibrahim Guimalan, 33 yrs old, Jonathan Batunga 18 yrs old, Ibrahim Katogan, 20 yrs old, Bohari Katogan, 20 yrs, and Kus Minga, 59 yrs old, all are residents of Brgy Inug-ug who are also believed to be members of the armed lawless group.
Government authorities confiscated two M16 rifles, M1 Garand rifle – 1, homemade caliber .30 rifle, two M19 pistols, hand grenade, bolo knife, assorted magazines, and assorted ammunition.
“The arrest of this armed lawless group will help in the on-going investigation of increasing number shooting incidents and other form of criminalities in Pikit ,” said Joint Task Force Central Commander Maj. Gen. Diosdado C. Carreon.“I commend our government troops involved in the operation for their dedication in working to squeeze crime in JTF Central area of responsibility,” the Commander added.
