From the Sun Star-Zamboanga (Apr 1, 2019): 4 nabbed, high-powered guns seized
GOVERNMENT troops nabbed lawless elements and seized high-powered firearms in a law enforcement operation in Maguindanao, military officials said.
Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Go, Jr., Army 37th Infantry Battalion commander, identified the arrested suspects as Guiaman Lumbos, Ali Lumbos, Samsudin Lumbos, and Digna Lumbos Dirangaren.
Go said the suspects were arrested after being served a search warrant on Saturday, March 30, in Langkong village, Matanog town.
He said seized from the suspects were the following: one caliber .30 improvised sniper rifle; three M-16 Armalite rifles, including one with attached M-203 grenade launcher; one M-14 rifle; one carbine rifle; a hand grenade; ammunition; and magazines.
The military official said the arrested suspects and the recovered items were turned over to the custody of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CIDG-BARMM) for appropriate filing of cases.
“The successful operation was made through the collaborative effort and the deliberate planning of security forces in the area of operations,” he said.
Colonel Wilbur Mamaway, Army’s 603rd Infantry Brigade commander, said they will actively support the law enforcement operation of the police to prevent lawless elements from sowing fear in the community.
“In the quest for peace and development, unity is the key to success,” said Major General Cirilito Sobejana, Army’s 6th Infantry Division commander citing the law enforcement operation would not be accomplished if not for the help of the civilian community who provided vital information.
“The spate of accomplishments of military and police forces only prove that, if we synergize efforts, we will effect operations with substantial gains. We assure you that this cooperation among security forces will be sustained to effectively address lawless violence in Mindanao,” added Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief.
