SIMUAY, SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao - The Bangsamoro Assembly, a gathering of all stakeholders of the Mindanao Peace Process organized by the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) started yesterday, November 26 at the Old Provincial Capitol, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao. Hundreds of thousands of participants had already arrived with more expected to arrive today.
The main objective of the assembly is to gather and show support for the passage of the new Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
National Government Officials headed by President Rodrigo R. Duterte, members of cabinet, Congress, regional, and local officials are attending the big event.
As of November 25, participants from Sulu, Tawi Tawi, Basilan, Zamboanga, Palawan, Sarangani and Sultan Kudarat provinces are in placed within the vicinity of the venue.
Security forces, some members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG), and thousands of BIAF members are now securing the venue, the national highway, and its surroundings.
Meanwhile, The Committee on Media Affairs for the Bangsamoro Assembly headed by Commissioner Mohagher Iqbal of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) had finalized its preparations during the committees’ final meeting of the sub-committees on Saturday, November 25.
Chairman Iqbal reminded everyone to do their responsibilities with faithful intention for peace in Mindanao.
Abdullah ‘Dong’ Cusain, Chair of the Committee on Invitation and Accreditation said that there are about a hundred of media outfits signified their intention to cover the big event.
Social Media Sub-Committee(SOCMED) Head Tu Alfonso said that internet connections was identified as a problem of his team in the venue but had some alternatives to access internet.
The Sub-committees on media booth, promotional materials, decoration and restoration, transportation and communication, Tri-media, internal finance and other committees play important role to ensure the success of the activity.
