Public safety forces of the Police Regional Office-18 in
Negros Island Region received firearms, ammunition and other items in rites
held Monday at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in this city.
Chief Supt. Conrado Capa, director of PRO-18, led the
distribution of the logistical equipment issued by the Philippine National
Police national headquarters’ Directorate for Logistics.
The PRO-18 distributed 17 M-16 rifles, two 5.56 light
machine guns, 45,000 rounds of ammunition and backpacks to the Regional Public
Safety Battalion-18 (RPSB-18), Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office
(NOCPPO) Maneuver Company, Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NORPPO)
Maneuver Company, and Bacolod City Public Safety Company (BCPSC).
The BCPSC received 5,440 rounds of M-16 ammunition; NOCPPO,
12,060 rounds; and NORPPO, 10,000 rounds. The three units along with the
RPSB-18 were also issued 7,700 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and 490 magazine
assemblies and 9,310 rounds of ammunition for the two light machine guns.
“We are very thankful to our present administration for
giving us additional logistical equipment to help us fight against terrorism
and counter-insurgency,” Capa said.
He also told the PRO-18 personnel to take care of the
firearms given to them.(
