Leaders of the MILF and MNLF from different parts of Davao Region attended a gathering called Davao Regional Bangsamoro Leaders Forum on August 28, 2016 at the Lupon Islamic Center in Lupon, Davao Oriental.
Those who served as resource persons were MILF First Vice Chairman Ghadzali Jaafar, BIAF Vice Chief of Staff Hussein Muñoz, MNLF leader Jimmy Labawan, Davao Oriental Provincial Police Supt. Harry Espilla and executive consultant to the Office of the Mayor Robert R. Simbahon.
Jaafar stressed that “this is the best time to resolve the struggle” and urged the audience to work hard and be vigilant.
Munoz pointed out that for the sake of Islam and peace “we need to unite and be loyal to the Organization and signed agreements.”
On the part of the MNLF, Labawan said that they are hoping that President Duterte will find the best formula for lasting peace.
For his part, Espilla thanked the Moro community whom he described as peace loving people and informed them that they have now shifted to another “war”, which is that against illegal drugs.
Eastern Davao Provincial Committee Chairman Roy Lopez welcomed the guests and participants to the forum who were mostly MILF and MNLF local leaders.
Other participants were the members of the International Monitoring Team (IMT), different line agencies, MILF Social Welfare committee(SWC), media representatives, and Bangsamoro youth organizations. (PID-INFO. DAVAO COMMITTEE).
