Posted to DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Jan 20): DIMINISHING II NPA Casualty in Caramoan Clash Raised to 3

CAMP GUILLERMO NAKAR, Lucena City(DWDD) – A third cadaver of an NPA from the Caramoan clash last January 18, 2016 was discovered by the operating troops of the 83rd Infantry Battalion in a nearby Sitio of Brgy Gibgos, Caramoan, Camarines Sur at 2:45 p.m. the following day (Jan 19).

The body was found through a tip from a local resident. The discovery was reported by a certain Emi Manlangit, a local resident of Sitio Panag of the same barangay.

According to the tipster, she saw the lifeless body of a man covered with a jacket inside her home when she arrived from the farm. It has gunshot wounds on the left leg and abdomen. This raised the number of the NPA casualties of the said clash to three (3). Another rebel was captured during the same encounter.

The cadaver was turned over to Caramoan MPS for identification and proper disposition.
Pursuit and blocking operations are still ongoing in the Caramoan peninsula to track down the remainder of the NPAs encountered by government troops.

At present, it is hard to track down the NPAs because they are moving in smaller groups. With the recent encounter, we were able to gain first hand information of their location. This NPA group in Caramoan is now crippled and SoLCom will take advantage of this. The ultimate goal of our operations in the area is to eliminate these rebels who continue to sow violence and fear to the people and the communities in the Caramoan Peninsula, so that peace and development may prosper.
