Major Gen. Elmer C. Pabale assume Friday his new post as the
new commanding officer of the Army Support Command (ASCOM), the unit tasked to
provide logistics to Army troops.
Pabale, a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA)Class
of 1983 and a native of Calamba, Laguna, replaced Major Gen. Gamaliel S. Cruz,
a member of PMAClass of 1982, who retired after reaching the mandatory
retirement age of 56.
Army spokesperson Col. Benjamin Hao said Pabale is a
seasoned logistician.
Prior to his appointment as ASCOM head, Pabale served as the
Army Inspector General whose function was to determine the efficiency and
effectiveness of the Philippine Army major units and offices, which includes
the performance of various unit commanders and his staff, state of morale and
welfare of personnel, and the discipline, law and order existing with the
command.
He also used to serve as the assistant division commander of
the Army’s 7th Infantry Division based at Fort Magsaysay ,
Nueva Ecija.
The designation of Pabale is part of the Army's continuing
career and leadership development program for its senior officers.
Pabale is married to Ma. Christina F. Pabale and they are
blessed with two children. He is set to retire on Feb. 18, 2018.
