Troopers from the 73rd Infantry Battalion and 102nd Division
Reconnaissance Company, recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) and
other associated items while on security patrols in Barangay Lun Padidu,
Malapatan town, Sarangani on Saturday morning.
Also recovered were two electric blasting caps, a remote
control and a transmitter.
Eastern Mindanao Command public affairs office chief Capt.
Alberto Caber said the items were recovered at 5: 30 a.m. after government
troopers received reports from concerned residents of the presence of the IED.
The continuous manufacture and use of these IEDs are gross
violations of the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect of Human Rights and
International Humanitarian Law, Caber said.
