The Cagayan De Oro-based 4th Infantry Division joined the
rest of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the celebration of the
country's 117th Independence Day Friday.
Major Christian Uy, 4th Infantry Division spokesperson, said
that their Independence Day celebrations started with a flag-raising ceremony
at Camp Evangelista , Patag, Cagayan De Oro City.
Aside from this, troopers from the 4th Infantry Division
headed by Brig. Gen. Joselito M. Reyes, the unit's assistant division
commander, together with ranking police and local government officials
participated in the wreath-laying ceremonies at Dr. Jose Rizal monument at
Kiosko Kagawasan, Divisoria, Cagayan De Oro City.
During the program, soldiers rendered the traditional three
volleys of fire in honor to the heroes who sacrificed their lives just to
liberate the Country from the Spanish colonists.
