The government forces pursuing the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG)
bandits have discovered a hastily abandoned camp of the bandits in the
hinterlands of Sulu, a top military official announced Thursday.
Arrojado said the Scout Ranger Battalion troops were
scouring the hinterlands of Indanan when they discovered the abandoned camp.
He said the camp has 117 bunkers, four kitchens, and four
latrines that can accommodate more or less 300 persons.
He said there were indications that the camp was abandoned
few hours before the troops arrived in the area.
The government forces are pursuing a group of brigands who
figured in a clash earlier with the Army’s 35th Infantry Battalion in Barangay
Sawaki, Indanan.
A member of the ASG was killed while a soldier was wounded
in the clash that took place around 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
