Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Manuel Roxas II on Thursday lauded the local police in Sultan Kudarat for arresting Said Giad alias "Maestro", member of the dreaded Al-Khobar Group, which is responsible for a series of kidnappings.
"Ang pagkakahuli kay Said Giad alyas Maestro na isang kilabot na myembro ng grupong Al-Khobar ay isa na namang tagumpay sa ating kampanya laban sa kriminalidad. Ito ay patunay na ang administrasyon ni Pangulong Aquino ay determinado sa pagsisikap nito na mahuli at mapanagot sa batas ang mga salot na naghahasik ng kaguluhan sa ating lipunan (The arrest of Said Giad also known as Maestro, notorious member of the Al-Khobar group, is a big success on our drive against crimes. This is a proof that the Aquino administration is determined to capture and prosecute all criminals spreading violence in our country)," Roxas said in a statement.

He had been under surveillance by the PNP Provincial Police, the Isulan Municipal Police, and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
The suspect is charged with the kidnapping of five engineers working for the Philippine National Oil Company: Jeffrey Estember, Eric Nonan, Ferdinand Bergonia, Rudilyn Felex, and Rodelo Pillen. He is also facing charges for the kidnapping of a certain Wendell Wee.
