From ABS-CBN (Jun 2): Farmer beheaded; head seen hanging from tree
A farmer was brutally killed and beheaded last Friday in Matalam town in North Cotabato.
The victim was identified as Kenti Diagao, 44. He sustained multiple gunshots on his back. He was also beheaded.
Based on the investigation conducted by Matalam police, the victim was on his farm lot when he was shot using a 12-gauge shotgun.
Meanwhile, the Mindanao Human Rights Action Center (MINHRAC) condemned the brutal killing of Diagao.
MINHRAC's Abdulbasit Benito added they received information that the victim's head was seen hanging from a tree in a remote area in Sitio Bungasong in Barangay Patadon, Kidapawan City.
The group is urging the provincial government as well as the local government of Matalam and Kidapawan City to conduct an impartial investigation on the gruesome incident.
They also urged the Coordinating Committees on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to probe the incident and put the perpetrators behind bars.
Authorities are still conducting an in-depth investigation. They are also eyeing the possibility that the incident is related to the victim's farm lot.
