ASG operative nabbed in Zamboanga City

From the Philippine News Agency (Apr 23): ASG operative nabbed in Zamboanga City

A member of the Abu Sayyaf Ajijul Group was arrested by Task Force Zamboanga operatives during operations in Pahawag sa Baliwasan, Zamboanga City Wednesday morning.

This took place around 10:35 a.m., Col. Adrelino Colina, Task Force Zamboanga commander, said.

He identified the arrested brigand as Nabil Tahali Idjiran alias "Abu Darren".

Idjiran has pending arrest warrants for murder in relation to the Sipadan kidnapping in 2001 and Pearl Farm raid in Samal Island sometime in 2001.

The suspect was caught by authorities masquerading as a fish vendor. He said Idjiran did not resist arrest.

No weapon was recovered in the suspect's possession.

Colina said that they are still determining what Idjiran is doing in the area.

The Ajijul Group of the ASG is composed of 14 brigands according to military intelligence.

The group operates within the environs of Zamboanga City.
