The Sarangani-based 1002nd Infantry Brigade announced that it strongly supports the condemnation rally of the Davao Del Sur provincial government against the deliberate use of landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) by the New People's Army (NPA) against civilians.

Rodriquez said that the Davao Del Sur provincial government was particularly incensed by the NPA’s recent landmine atrocity in Bansalan town last March 2 which wounded 12 soldiers and five civilians.
“I, together with the people of Davao del Sur, condemn in its strongest term the landmine attacks perpetrated by the New People's Army rebels in Bansalan town. We enjoin every peace loving Filipinos to sustain the social pressure in rendering the NPA irrelevant and in massively calling for an end on the use of landmines. We hold the CPP-NPA-NDF (CNN) accountable for the recent landmine attacks against the soldiers and civilians,” Davao Del Sur Gov. Claude Bautista said.
