With the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA) celebrating its 45th founding anniversary Thursday, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announced that there will be no change in its alert level.
"There will be no change in our alert level today. We will be ready for any eventuality. Our personnel will continue to maintain active defense of our installations in the event of an attack by the NPA," AFP public affairs office chief Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala said.
He added that they will continue with our peace and development work in the countryside.
"The NPA have consistently shown their contempt for any declaration of cessation of hostilities during the holidays. We cannot trust them to not attempt an attack on government during these times," Zagala stressed.
