AFP continues to partner with private sector in aid of remote places

From the Philippine Information Agency (Dec 26): AFP continues to partner with private sector in aid of remote places

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) continues  to partner with ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. Sagip Kapamilya in constructing schools, give relief goods and conducting medical missions in remote areas in the country.

In Kalinga which is an  area of responsibility of the 501st Brigade, the AFP collaborated with the  foundation in  sponsoring  medical outreach programs and  in providing  six  units school buildings for the province.

According to Brig. General Roger Salvador, Commanding Officer of the 501st Brigade, the military provides the technical and manpower support in constructing schools, while the community-beneficiary the labor and hauling of materials.

He said they have already constructed three  schools in the province, one in at Pinukpuk and two  in Tinglayan,  under the technical and manpower assistance of the engineering brigade and the 77th Infantry  Battalion based in the area. Three  school buildings are up for construction.

During the inauguration of these first  three  school buildingss, medical and dental activities were also conducted with ABS-CBN providing the medicines and the 5th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army based in Camp Upi, Gamu, Isabela providing  doctors and dentists . Relief goods  were also  distributed.

Aside from the AFP’s own bayanihan projects, Salvador said they partner with other government institutions and the private sector to bring missionary work to far-flung areas hardly reached by government service.
