The military has killed four rebels and recovered 15 assorted firearms, including one improvised explosive device, in six separate encounters with the communist rebels in Northern Mindanao in September alone,
Capt. Christian Uy of the Army’s Public Affairs Office, said the intensified anti-insurgency operations also resulted in the surrender of eight New People’s Army (NPA) rebels who also turned over a total of 11 assorted firearms comprising Armalite rifles, carbines, and AK-47 assault rifles.
Uy said that the encounters with the NPA rebels took place in Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, and Bukidnon province from Sept. 10 to Sept. 22, 2013.
