Camp General Manuel T Yan Sr., Mawab, Davao de Oro- A minor female NPA who was wounded during an encounter between government troops and communist terrorists under CTG’s Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) was saved by troops in Bukidnon, Friday, June 5, 2020.

The 30-minute encounter transpired in Sitio Pinanubuan, Barangay Sinuda, Kitaotao Bukidnon at about 5:00PM when troops of 3IB acted on reports from the civilians on the presence of an undetermined number of armed group conducting extortion activities.

While clearing the area, the troops rescued a wounded 17 year old female NPA supply officer who was left behind to bleed to death in the encounter area by her fellow NPA cadres.

Recovered from her possession are an Improvised Explosive Devise (IED) and a hand grenade.

Alias Nina studied her combatant skills in the main campus of Salugpongan Ta’tanu Igkanugon Learning Center at Sitio Nasilaban, Barangay Palma Gil, Talaingod, Davao del Norte sometime in 2018, when she was still 15 years old. “Gitudluan kami sa pakig-gyera sa militar, naga apil pud ko og formation hantud nga gitudluan kami og ayad (Immediate action drill or IAD)”, she added.

The experience of alias Nina only proves that the salugpongan schools are being used to train npa combatants. They are not designed to be IP schools at the rural areas.

Meanwhile, 10ID leadership lauded the troops of 3rd Infantry Battalion for adherence to the comprehensive agreement on the respect for human rights and international humanitarian law.

Said NPA was immediately given medical first aid by troops before bringing her to German Hospital in Buda, Marilog and was later transferred to Southern Philippine Medical Center for medical treatment. She is now in stable condition.
