61IB seizes NPA firearm, paraphernalia
FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City - Operating troops of the 61st Infantry Hunter Battalion seized a high-powered firearm along with other paraphernalia after an armed encounter with Communist New People's Army Terrorists in Barangay Curocuan, Igbaras, Iloilo on June 6, 2020.
The 20-minute firefight resulted to the seizure of an M16 rifle, several magazines with ammunition, backpacks, food and medical supplies, and propaganda material.
The battalion launched the combat operation after receiving reports from concerned civilians regarding the presence of NPA terrorists in the area, purportedly planning to sabotage vital installations such as the Century Peak Energy Corporation (CPEC) in Igbaras, Iloilo. #
