Magpet, Cotabato – A total of 8 truckloads of relief goods coming from the Department of Social Works and Development National Office arrived in the Municipality of Magpet since yesterday until today, November 7, 2019.

The goods will be distributed to the victims of the series of earthquakes which hit the Province of Cotabato a week ago. Records shows that 2,647 families from different barangays near Mt. Apo were severely affected by the quake. The assorted goods were received by Ms. Antonia Fernandez, Municipal Social Works and Development Officer-Magpet and 1st Lt. Dominic Fenis, Operations Officer of 72nd Infantry Battalion. These were temporarily stored in the Municipal Gymnasium for efficient distribution to affected families.

“We will continue to assist and support the affected LGUs in the delivery of relief goods to the quake victims and ensure the safety of those who extended their help,” Lt. Col Rey Alvarado, Battalion Commander of 72IB, said in his statement.

The Disaster Risk Reduction Management Councils of Kidapawan City, Magpet, and President Roxas are in close monitoring on the areas and families affected by the tremors and now preparing for the relocation from unstable areas prone to landslide.
