There is no time to chill for outgoing Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff, Gen. Benjamin Madrigal Jr., as he is still willing to work either in government or in the private sector after his retirement on September 24.
"I intend to work after my military career, whether government or civilian, kasi may pinapaaral pa ako (I am still sending my daughter to school)," Madrigal told reporters in an interview Tuesday.
He, however, clarified that he has yet to receive an offer from President Rodrigo R. Duterte regarding any post in government.
"Wala pa naman (None yet)," he said when asked about it.
The Chief Executive has appointed a number of former AFP chiefs to government posts, among them Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, National Irrigation Administration chief Ricardo Visaya, and Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Carlito Galvez.
Madrigal took over the helm of the AFP on Dec. 11, 2018, replacing Galvez who bowed out of the service after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56.
He is a member of PMA Class of 1985.
On Sunday, AFP spokesperson, Marine Brig. Gen. Edgard Arevalo, said the names of possible replacements for Madrigal have already been forwarded to the Office of the President.
