Police teams are in pursuit of motorcycle riding-in-tandem suspects who killed three men, believed to be related by blood, during an ambush along the national highway in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat on Tuesday.

Lt. Col. Lino Capellan, speaking for the Police Regional Office -12 (PRO-12), said the shooting occurred at about 4 p.m. at the section of the highway in Barangay Maligaya of Lambayong. He identified the victims as Nhor Talib, 34; Toton Ibad, 25; and Mike Ibad, 57, all of Barangay Namnama, Lambayong.

Quoting a report from the Lambayong police office, Capellan said the victims were on a tricycle driven by Mike Ibad when a motorcycle riding-in-tandem suddenly appeared from behind and shot them at close range.

“Witnesses said one of the victims tried to escape but was chased and further shot by the suspects,” he said.

Police probers found empty shells for .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene. Capellan said the ambush was believed to have been triggered by a “rido” or clan war involving the victims and the attackers.

“The Lambayong police is currently pursuing several ‘persons of interest’ that reportedly had a standing quarrel with the victims,” the police official said.
