The Army’s 403rd Infantry Brigade has ordered the deployment of more troops following the capture of an alleged camp of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Bukidnon province Tuesday.

Maj. Christian C. Uy, regional Army spokesman of the Army’s Northeastern and Northern Mindanao 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division (4th ID) said the 90-minute fierce gunbattle at the Kalampigan area in Barangay Kalabugao, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon resulted in the capture of the alleged camp of SECOM 89 of the NPA, armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).

At the Malitbog-Impasug-ong boundary, one soldier was killed and two militiamen were injured when a fierce gunbattle took place between pursuing combat troops from the 8th Infantry Battalion (8th IB) and NPA rebels.

Col. Jesse Alvarez, commanding officer of the 403rd Brigade deployed more troops to beef up the pursuing 8th IB troopers in the area.

“Our combat maneuvering troops in the region, particularly in Bukidnon are determined to pursue peace and development,” Maj. Uy told Manila Bulletin. He also said field troops are also following the hot trail of the abductors of the two soldiers who were snatched by NPA’s on August 22, this year.

The gunbattle at Sitio Cadapa, Barangay Tibagon, Pantukan, Compostela Valley (ComVal) province, led to the capture of  M14 rifle, 7.62mm rifle, three IEDs, homemade grenades, 300 meters wire, blasting caps, trigger devices and personal belongings, 71st IB Platoon leader 1Lt. Ari Ben T. Hernaez said.
