An alleged member of the New People’s Army who is facing charges for frustrated murder and theft, was arrested by the police and Army soldiers on January 21 in Sitio Cantupa, Brgy. Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

The arrested suspect, identified by the police as Rey Vincies de Leon, 29, has a pending arrest warrant for frustrated murder issued by Judge Walter Zorilla, who recommended a bail of P200,000.

The Himamaylan police, assisted by the 94th Infantry Battalion, 2nd Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6, also served another arrest warrant to de Leon, for the crime of theft that has a recommended bail of P5,000.

De Leon is alleged by authorities to be a member of the Sentro De Grabidad Platoon of the dismantled Central Negros 2 guerilla front under the Komiteng Rehiyonal Negros, Cebu/Bohol/Siquijor.*
