MANILA – Four members of a group linked to the communist movement have returned to the fold of the law and withdrawn their support from the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).
In a statement, Southern Police director Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft said the former members of the Alliance of Filipino Workers (AFW) took their oath of allegiance to the government at the Taguig City Fort Bonifacio Substation 1 at around 10 a.m. Wednesday.
"According to the report, Taguig City Police Substation 1 Commander together with Special Project Team-RIU NCR and Chief Intelligence Section, Taguig CPS facilitated the withdrawal of support of the four members of CTG sectoral group to the CPP-NPA-NDF and their oath of allegiance to the government," he added.
Kraft said the surrenderers are labor union members and are identified as sectoral personalities instigating anti-governmental sentiments and supporting communist Ideology.
"Likewise, they are active in the recruitment of new members and participating in mass actions/protest rallies organized by Communist fronts. They were identified as Kathlene Ramirez, nursing attendant, Jaime Regencia, ambulance driver, Bernardo Casila Aquino, nursing attendant and Joemarie Esmedina Eusebio, maintenance personnel," the SPD chief added.
With the formalization of their withdrawal of support to the communist group and oath of allegiance to the government, Kraft said other government agencies will come in for appropriate interventions to sustain their support and influence other members to do the same.
